A man has been apprehended after he allegedly shot and killed his ex-fiancée, according to California police.
Riverside Police Department (RPD) officers raced to a home in the 11000 block of Trailrun Court at about 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, to check the welfare of Pankaja Venugopal, 57.
According to a police statement shared on Tuesday: "The woman's son stated she had been having recent issues with her ex-fiancée and she had not been heard from that day.
"When officers arrived, they went inside the house and discovered the woman to be deceased and an apparent victim of a gunshot wound."
Riverside officers said detectives were quickly able to identify Venugopal's former partner Paul Buckner Jacobs Jr., 60, as the suspect.

A 2017 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study found that nearly half of female homicide victims are killed by a current or former intimate male partner.
The police statement added: "With assistance from the Gang Unit, detectives located and safely apprehended Mr. Jacobs Jr. a few hours later in the city of Jurupa Valley."
Jacobs Jr. has since been booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center and is being held on a murder charge. His bail was set to $1 million.
Riverside officers said an investigation is ongoing and have not released any other information in connection with the murder.
Newsweek has contacted RPD for comment.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, a database that collects information about shootings from across the U.S., only one woman had been fatally shot dead in Riverside in 2022.
Domestic violence affects millions of women across America every year with the CDC estimating more than 41 percent of women have experienced physical, sexual, and/or stalking by an intimate partner.
In June, a young mother and her child were kidnapped in DeKalb County, Georgia, before she was fatally shot.
According to ABC affiliate WSB-TV Atlanta, DeKalb County Police said the child's father, 22-year-old Taco Nash, showed up at a daycare and confronted 21-year-old Mi'Ckeye Montgomery.
Nash then allegedly took them both to a wooded area close to the daycare where he killed the mother.
Police arrived minutes later and apprehended Nash. The child was reportedly uninjured and taken to a hospital for evaluation.
