An Elon University football player has died after falling from a 10-story dormitory on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Demitri Allison died after plunging off Morrison Residence Hall on Wednesday afternoon, according to Smith Jackson, vice president for student life and dean of students at Elon University.
Jackson didn't specify what floor Allison fell from or how it happened.

A memorial is due to be held in Allison’s honor at Rhodes Stadium in Elon at 4.30pm on Thursday
In a statement on the private school’s website, he said Allison had left the Elon campus on Tuesday.
His teammates, friends and family had asked police to look for him because they were ‘concerned for his well-being and emotional state’, Jackson said, but did not elaborate further.

He played in all nine of Elon's games this season, catching 12 passes for 123 yards.

‘The death of any student is devastating to our community, especially in situations like this, and we want to reach out to friends and acquaintances who knew Demitri,’ Jackson said.
‘The loss of a classmate, friend and student reminds us that the life of each person in our community is precious.
‘The loss is particularly painful for the Phoenix athletics family.’
He added the football team’s chaplain is providing counseling for the players and staff.’
Athletics director Dave Blank added: ‘Everyone associated with Elon athletics is devastated.
‘Demitri was a talented young man with a bright future who was loved by his teammates. We mourn his loss deeply and we pray for his family and loved ones.’
